With only a few years remaining before the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) deadline, global progress has reached only around 17% of the targets. As the world continues to face mounting sustainability challenges, Taiwan still has significant work to do in the area of “life on land.” Ecological conservation is not solely the responsibility of governments and enterprises—it requires collective participation from every individual.
To further enhance employees’ understanding of biodiversity and sustainability, PANJIT hosted an ESG-themed lecture in the first quarter of 2026. The event invited Mr. Hsieh Meng-Che, head of the “Taiwan Native White Moth Orchid Restoration Project,” to share insights into native species conservation and hands-on ecological restoration practices, bringing sustainability concepts closer to real-world application.
During the session, the speaker offered a vivid introduction to Taiwan’s unique ecological landscape. Although the island is renowned for its rich biodiversity, many native species exist in only limited populations and may disappear permanently if not carefully protected. Taiwan’s diverse geography—from coastal regions to high mountains—makes it a microcosm of global ecosystems and a vital habitat for numerous species. However, once ecological balance is disrupted, restoration is often extremely difficult.
The event also featured a special showcase of native Taiwanese orchid seedlings, allowing employees to observe the growth process of indigenous species up close and gain a deeper appreciation for conservation efforts in action. Through both hands-on observation and insightful sharing, participants developed a stronger awareness of the importance of biodiversity protection and recognized that sustainable living begins with everyday choices.
More than a transfer of knowledge, this lecture served as a shared reflection of values. By witnessing the beauty and fragility of native ecosystems, participants were encouraged to rethink the relationship between humanity and nature, as well as the role and responsibility of enterprises in advancing sustainable development.
PANJIT will continue to promote ESG initiatives, working alongside employees through education, engagement, and concrete action to build a more sustainable future for Taiwan.
